Heather Heads To Florida

Social butterfly, Heather, belonged on center stage!  She loved being the focus of attention and her parents always believed that their outgoing little girl was one-of-a-kind… a rare gem.  Unfortunately, this bright-eyed little girl achieved rare status by encountering a form of cancer that has been documented only 15 times in the U.S.

Heather was not quite three years old, but she was very brave, and she fought her spinal tumor valiantly.  As time was running out, she met with Wishes & More  volunteers, Andy and Theresa, and lit up as she talked about the Magic Kingdom.  We put everything in motion and scheduled her trip within days.

As her loving parents, Phil & Leah, prepared for the trip, they faced the additional burden of Phil’s father passing away.  With the family’s encouragement, and knowledge that this is what Grandpa would have wanted, they boarded the plane and fulfilled Heather’s wish.  Big sister Kendra and Heather shared time at the Magic Kingdom and enjoyed digging their feet into the warm Florida sand.  The family of four was pampered from the moment the limo arrived to take them to the airport.  They were greeted by volunteers Karen and Kelly, and were escorted to the gate where they were transferred to the welcoming care of the NWA flight crew.  From this attentive departure to the same attention on the return, the family enjoyed a memory-making week that culminated on May 11th.

Sadly, Heather’s gallant battle with her spinal tumor ended on June 10th.

Wishes & More is grateful to have the opportunity to bring warm and loving memories to Heather’s family.
