In loving memory of Jean! In a thank you she wrote to Wishes & More after receiving her wish, Jean tried to put into words how happy her wish had made her. “You’ve given me so much more than I’ve ever expected to receive. You also put a GIANT smile on my face,” Jean said. Jean is a teen that loved to shop at Maurices, watch comedies, eat Jelly Bellys, and read poetry. She suffered from a brain tumor and, for sometime, had been going through extensive chemotherapy. Throughout her treatment, Jean had maintained an inspiring sense of humor. She put a positive spin on losing her hair after the treatments by wearing funky hats, which she had been continuously complimented on. For her wish, Jean simply asked for a laptop computer. Wishes & More took that wish for a computer, fulfilled it, and did much more! Volunteers, Kelly and Cole, showed up on her doorstep looking like a party wagon bringing Jean’s favorite dessert (cherry pie), balloons, decorations, her computer and lots of accessories. Jean’s computer package included various games, a web cam, a PhotoSmart printer, wireless mouse, Internet service and more! We also included a DVD from Jean’s favorite T.V. show - “Home Improvement.” Sadly, on Saturday March 10th, Jean's 21st birthday, she passed away after a difficult year and a half battle with cancer. On Jean's Caring Bridge site her mother wrote, "She is now in heaven celebrating with cake and ice cream and maybe even a few drinks. She can eat and drink again. She can shoot 3 pointers on the basketball courts of heaven. She can run up and down the soccer fields of heaven. What better birthday present could she ask for?" |
