Wishes & More grants Lindsey's wish! Splash! That was the sound of Lindsay running into the water to catch a glimpse of her new Jet Ski for the first time. Lindsay Morgenstern’s closest friends and family watched the giddy 17-year-old’s eyes light up as Wishes & More volunteer Dave Reed pulled up to the party on a new Kawasaki Jet Ski. Fully clothed and sporting a matching life jacket, Lindsay hopped on her new ride. A big smile and a charming laugh, Lindsay appears to be a normal teenager. However, doctors diagnosed the New Brighton teen with ovarian cancer last spring. Doctors removed her grapefruit-sized tumor and placed Lindsay on a harsh chemotherapy regimen. But on her special day, Lindsay’s illness was not the focus. All the attention was on Lindsay and her special wish have a Jet Ski. Splash! That was the sound of Dave falling off the back as Lindsay hit the gas to cruise the lake. “Anyone else want a ride?” Lindsay asked with a sly grin. Lindsay was all smiles as she took turns giving her guests a ride on her new three-person water vehicle. Karla Blomberg, Wishes & More President, even had a turn on the Jet Ski after making Lindsay promise to “drive carefully.” Also included in Lindsay’s package was a trailer, trailer license, a safety training course and two life jackets. “Lindsay’s wish couldn’t have been more perfect,” her mom Bev said. “Thanks, Wishes & More!”
Thank you WISHES & MORE! Lindsay
Dear Wishes & More, How can I thank you enough for all the kindness and generosity you’ve shown me and my family? Ranging from the wig, to the tickets, to the Wild and Packers game, and finally the awesome jet ski. Thanks for making my dream come true. I have read about kids receiving gifts and acts of charity in stories, books and magazines, but I never thought I would be one of them. The volunteers who took time out of their busy lives to spend it with me on Sunday during the Jet Ski presentation were beyond words. Thank you! This past summer was a nightmare full of pain and suffering.
The party was great – everyone had a good time! My friends from school, my teacher Bill Neiss and family members were all there – even Steve and Denise Tousley, the one’s that first contacted Karla!
And s WET SUIT!!! (Sorry – never did get Karla’s front side…)
Dave helped me put on my life vest and was helpful… until I knocked him in the water… as he got on the back of the jet-ski! - By accident! Then October came and I was no longer sick every morning and I am now feeling great and happy to be back in school. I was presented with the jet=ski from Wishes & More… what a great ending to a summer that started out so awful!
Dave showed me how the jet-ski worked. He was very helpful.
Plus – I got two life jackets!!!
Will I wake up? Is it all a dream? I hope not! You have made a lasting impression on me and everyone I know. They cannot believe what your organization does for so many kids and teens! How much happiness you present to so many who may have lost hope and may have lost their smile due to their awful circumstances! I would really like to attend the fund raising dinner in February. From meeting people to serving people – I am open to helping in any way. My mother would also like to help, she would like to give back to you in any way she can. Here are more pictures from Sunday… Me and the cake.
