Office Help:
The office is always busy. We have a
variety of tasks for those who wish to help out in the office. Some
regular offices tasks involve writing thank you notes to our donors, data
entry, bookkeeping duties, filing, assisting with wish paperwork and
mailings to name a few. |
|
|

|
Wish Granting
Volunteers:
Volunteers are needed to assist in making the wishes happen. Duties range from
setting up a vacation (travel wish), soliciting or shopping for items (gift
wish), creating a vocation for a day (ex. a child wishes to be a police
officer), or setting up a meeting with a celebrity (child wishes to meet
someone). Time commitment of 1-2 wishes per quarter. Time is as needed
dependent upon the complexity of the wish. |

Marketing Volunteers:
Marketing Volunteers are responsible for creating press releases, newsletters,
brochures and other marketing collateral. Skills sought: media connections,
writing/editing experience, marketing background or other related experience. |
|
|

|
Speakers:
We are looking for people who enjoy speaking in
front of groups and are willing to represent
Wishes & More.
Many organizations often request a speaker to talk to their organization to
learn more about us. Presentations will vary in length, and we
will provide training. |
|
|

|
Magic Makers:
Volunteers needed to personalize each
wish. Creativity is a must. Attend monthly meetings to determine
personalization of each wish and occasionally make presentations to
children. Willingness to shop for and solicit items that will enhance
the wish, i.e. a package of fishing tackle and tackle box before a fishing
trip. Time commitment is six months. |

Golf
or Other Events:
We have not determined the other types of events that will be conducted. If you
enjoy the work involved in event planning, and are interested in receiving
information, as it is developed, please check this area of interest and we will
contact you. |

|

|
Gift Bag Item
Solicitors and Assemblers:
Volunteers
needed to solicit small gifts to be given to wish children and their siblings as
an icebreaker when visiting with the child to determine their wish. Could
include cold calling and visiting stores and corporations. Volunteers will
also need to keep an informal inventory of gift bag items and then assembling
the bags by age and gender. Time commitment is ongoing. |

Photographers/Videographers:
Professional
photographers and Videographers are usually needed to capture the wish experience.
ManyTime
commitment is as needed. |
|
|

|
Training:
Volunteers needed to develop and maintain training manuals and materials.
Qualified individuals would be comfortable facilitating training of small groups
on a monthly basis. Past training or teaching experience a plus. |
|
|

|
Fundraising:
This
area is for individuals who are interested in all aspects of the areas of
fundraising. Professional sales experience, speaking experience are desired but
not required. |
|
|

|
Wish Wizards:
Volunteers needed to meet with children to determine their wish. Past
experience in working with children is a plus. Must attend required training
prior to conducting the first interview. Time commitment of 1-2 times per
quarter. Meetings with children average one hour plus travel time. |
|
|

|
Help From
Home:
If you cannot spend a lot of time away, here's a chance to help out from
home. We sometimes have special projects that our volunteers can take
home. These can vary from stuffing and labeling envelopes to making
phone calls. |
|
|

|
Annual Dinner Auction:
One of our biggest events of the year, the annual dinner auction is great
fun and requires a lot of assistance from our volunteers. We need
people to help with decorating, soliciting silent auction items, organizing
and recording items, assisting with the program, and much more. |
|
|

|
Handy people:
People are needed to assemble items from
computer desks to playgrounds and play sets for the wishes. Time
commitment is as needed. |
|
|

|
Meeters &
Greeters:
Volunteers needed to meet children at the airport on the way to and returning
from their wish trips. Must be willing to go to the airport at early hours for
send-off and varying times for return. Familiarity with the airport is a plus,
but not required. Second language occasionally is necessary. Time commitment
is ongoing and as needed. Training is required. |

Teens 4 Kids
is a group of youth volunteers, age 13 through 19, with a love
for kids and a desire to serve. Their goal is to support the mission of
Wishes & More
and bring a smile to a child.
Opportunities available:
* Assist in formulating the goals/objectives of a Teen Board
* Serve on Teen Board (teens and adults)
* Visit wish-kids and read, play games, teach a craft, laugh and/or deliver a
wish gift bag
* Recruit other youth or youth organizations to volunteer for
Wishes & More

Fundraising activities
* Make cards and gifts for kids
* Create thank-you notes and art for acknowledgement plaques
* Be creative and generate ideas on how we can support the mission of
Wishes & More
and bring a smile to a child.

Participate in wishes that involve presentations
All Youth:
This is a rewarding opportunity for you to share your
gifts with others. Youth organizations (Scouts, church groups, schools, etc.):
This is a
great opportunity for youth to earn service credit while enhancing the life of a
child and creating extraordinary memories.

you would like to assist us in the formulation of our own Teen Board, we would

Volunteers with specific skills and professions are being sought to assist
Wishes & More in the areas specified. We are a new organization
that will be developing committees, forms, liability releases, appropriate
insurance policies, etc. If you are interested in sharing your professional
skills, please check this area of interest and we will contact you with the
specific needs.
Professions/Experience: Attorneys, insurance brokers, individuals with
business acumen, individuals with secondary language and cultural skills,
medical professionals, sales executives, individuals qualified to speak on
behalf of the organization.
A
background check will be required for all volunteers.
