The first annual Wishes & More Golf Classis was held August 16, 2005 at Legends Club in Prior Lake.  It combined over 100 golfers, 20 enthusiastic volunteers, perfect weather, and great food. 

The tournament was presented by Treasure Island Resort & Casino and we were proud to have them as a part of our tournament.  We were also thrilled to partner with Schwann’s.  Not a golfer went hungry with Freshcetta Pizza, Famous Dave’s, and treats throughout the course.

Lisa Rogers and the registration volunteers got all the golfers checked in and then the tournament was kicked off “Shamble” style with contests throughout the day, including Closest to the Pin, Hole in One, Putting Contest, and others.  Each golfer was provided with a great bag of goodies (thanks to our many supporters), a golf shirt, and a Director’s Chair.  Many thanks to all of the golfers for joining us, as it appeared that everyone had a great time.

We are grateful to our Hole Sponsors who are extremely important in our efforts to raise dollars for our Wish Children.  Signs were placed around the course with the names and companies of our hole sponsors.

After the tournament, Legends Club provided an outstanding meal and we were joined by a very special guest.  Brynn, who is 5 years old, and her family joined us.  Brynn’s wish was to have a playground in her yard, and Wishes & More made this dream come true in June.  Brynn, with outstanding bravery, stood in front of the golfers and talked with Wishes & More President, Karla Blomberg, about her playground.  She was a big hit!

A very successful silent auction was held before and during dinner.  Amazing items were donated and we thank all the wonderful folks who generously gave to Wishes & More.  Terri & Brian Selchow worked for many months organizing this effort. 

The tournament was in the planning stages for many, many months, and was led by Tom Reid.  We couldn’t have been successful without our many volunteers, and Kathy Quinn who kept them organized. We are very grateful to them all.  We had a Volunteer Appreciation dinner at Tom Reid’s Hockey City Pub prior to the event and, wow, you wouldn’t believe all the donations they brought in for the tournament.  We are especially thankful for our committee chairs whose commitment and dedication are unparalleled.
