THANKS A MILLION!

SRO/Kokesh and friends hit the million dollar mark on Saturday, July 30.  22 years ago, a group of friends wanted to have a Poker Run, and they decided to give a portion to a charity.  After looking at a couple of charity options, and being turned away by at least one, they decided they wanted to raise money for kids with terminal and life-threatening illnesses, and they have been at it ever since.  Today, the group of friends has grown to about 125 "staff" and includes the next generation; a younger group that includes their children, nieces and nephews.

When Wishes & More was formed last fall, they were one of the first groups to contact us and commit to giving us their support.  We were honored.  We know how much effort and work goes into this project all year, and it all comes together at the "Summer Party and Softball Tournament".  We stopped by at the kick off “Winter Party” in February and heard their goal of raising $43,000 in order to be able to reach a cumulative total of $1,000,000.  Raffle tickets were sold all year, and in June they had a nine-hole golf tournament.  The finale was worth the wait when the tally came in.

A softball tournament, a raffle of a Harley Soft Tail, lots of good food, and three bands made the day great, but the highlight was when Billy stood on stage and people walked up one by one and made cash donations in support of the mission of Wishes & More.  These donors came forward with pride and enthusiasm and raised $2,961 in a matter of minutes.

The 2005 event raised approximately $53,000.  To each of you who were there on Saturday and to anyone who helped support this event, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  We love you guys (and gals)!!!
