Emma received a memorial from Wishes & More.

Wish

Emma's life ended June 2009 at Minneapolis Children's Hospital; but before that, she touched many people by her kindness and love for those she knew.  Emma, age two, was a little shy, but when she got to know you, she was very generous and kind.

Some of Emma's favorite places were the family cabin where she would enjoy boating and swimming.  She loved sitting on Mom and Dad's laps reading books and playing starfall.com to learn her ABC's.

Some of Emma's favorite things were her "softies," stuffed animals, especially Rosie the Ribbitter, one of her stuffed frogs.  She also loved her crocheted blankie that we called her shield.

Emma was a sweet and loving sister, our middle child.  She was a willing playmate to her big sister Sonja, age five, and a loving companion to her baby brother, now nine months.  In February 2009, Emma was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer.

Throughout her battle with cancer and chemo, Emma was easy to work with.  All she needed was for someone to hold her hand and she could face anything.

"Bottom's up, Buttercup," Mom would say as I changed her diaper.  It was another liquid poopy mess.  Then Emma would say cheerfully, "I'm not a buttercup.  I'm a girl!"  The nursing staff often commented on what a sweet girl she was and what beautiful blue eyes she had.

By the time Emma passed on, she had around 2000 people following her on CaringBridge and many have said they miss her even though they never met her.  I think that speaks to her life and the cute things she said and did during her cancer treatment.
